What we do and who we help
The mission of Koochiching Aging Options is to help Koochiching County’s older adults live independent, socially engaged and healthy lives in a supportive community. For individuals, their families and friends, we offer assessment and planning services, run support programs, provide resource information and offer links to other service providers. We also serve the broader community by researching present and future needs, always encouraging collaboration among all providers of service to the county’s elders.
How we came to be
After extensive planning, Koochiching Aging Options was incorporated in 2009 as an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to meeting increasing need for support to this rural county’s older adults. Staff was hired in July 2009. Since that time, we have administered numerous programs while acting as a major referral point and planner for services to older residents. The organization is supported by the county, by private and governmental grants and by private contributions.
